Creativity Abound in 2012!

Welcome to February 2012 - A leap year!
A little fact:
In a Leap year there is a traditional in Ireland and Scotland, that ladies can ask their man to marry them! I did this to my husband, granted we where 14 years old, but it eventually happened! :)

2012 is going to be an exciting year at Forget me not Tombstones, starting this month with our first television appearance on Summit TV - The Small Business Show. Filming took place last year December, and it was an experience that we will not forget. Incredibly nerve racking, but also exciting beyond belief! I will keep you posted on the day that the show is going to air!

This year is all about creativity for us. Pushing the design envelope is something we do on a daily basis and everyone on the Forget me not Team, challenge themselves personally to create beautiful memorials for clients, that not only are visually beautiful, but meaningful and personal. A true testimony to your loved one.
We are driven by passion for what we do, and i feel blessed that i am able to do something that i love and that  is fulfilling on so many levels.

We have also decided to expand our handmade invitation department. We found that last year we were not only doing unveiling invitations but wedding invites, baby showers and house warming invitations. We love to be creative at Forget me not, and we are pleased to announce that we have two extra creative fairies on our team to help with crafting our beautiful invitations. So please feel free to drop us an email for information! We would love to hear from you!

We have also upgraded our showroom, and there are a few new designs that we have brain stormed and are already receiving many compliments. If you have a design idea for a memorial or you cant find exactly what you are looking for, then please email us for assistance. We love a design challenge and find it incredibly rewarding being able to assist the public in their vision.

So please email us questions, queries or comments. We would love to hear from you!

I hope that February is a wonderful month for you and that you too find time to be creative in your life.

An essential aspect of creativity is not being afraid to fail.

On a personal note...

I think because it is coming to the end of the year, i always seem to look back and reminisce.
When i first joined the industry it was by no means on purpose. My uncle passed away and my family and I were left the tombstone company. A that present time i was taking a gap year from university, all of 19 years old, and i was able to help my dad run a company that he did not have the time to do.

I remember the first day i walked in to the showroom and saw all the memorials and to be quiet honest i was completely taken aback by it all. Little by little i started learning the business, started making huge changes to the way the company ran, the products and service we offered. Being a young woman with no experience, in a mostly male dominated industry was tough to say the least. But through sheer grit and determination, and a developing thick skin, i found myself and my decisions being taken seriously.

Nine years later, now having a degree and being married, i find myself with an absolute passion for what i do, and could not imagine my life any other way.  We help people remember their loved ones and i find it a privilege to be apart of that process.

Our company is forever evolving, from our cutting edge designs of tombstones, to other services we now offer to clients. We strive to be the best, and everyday we push the boundaries. It has been a long road so far, but it has been exciting, challenging, and on a personal note it has helped me in becoming more self confident in myself and my abilities.

But everything is a team effort, and without everyone here at Forget me not Tombstones, we would not be where we are today. I see us not as a team, but a family.

I look forward to the next 10 years!

Reflections of 2011

It is nearly the end of the year and the holiday season is upon us.
This year has been exciting and challenging at Forget me not Tombstones. We reached another milestone, as we celebrated our 10th birthday!

I reflect back on our humble beginnings, and am amazed how much we have grown. Sheer determination, hard work, sweat and the occasional tears have got us to where we are today. From selling a few tombstones a month to exporting into Africa and having a large and loyal client base, we have come a long way from where we began. Thank you to everyone for their support and loyalty through the years.

We were honoured to be a finalist in this year's 702 and pastel accounting small business of the year awards, and  it brings great joy to us to know that we are providing such an important service to the public, and that we are doing the best job possible. We constantly strive for greatness in all that we do - custom made tombstones, invitations, restorations and advice on unveilings. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Lindiwe Mbuli for nominating us for this prestigious award, it means so much to everyone here at Forget me not.

We have extended our reach into the market this year, from advertising in local newspapers in various communities, starting our own blog and facebook page. Please check our website for regular specials and information. We are now adding a new section to our website which includes inspirational wording, information on an unveiling, updates from local cemeteries in Gauteng and other useful tools. This will be available on our website shortly.

We have also just launched our Christmas Sale, and the specials will be up on the website in the next few days. If you would like to receive our specials please navigate to our site and drop us an email and we will send you the brochure.
